Berluti’s remarkable elegance makes its mark at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival

As the legendary red carpet was rolled out on the Croisette for the Cannes Festival’s 79th year, Berluti reaffirmed its long-standing association with cinema by dressing several film stars and leading creatives throughout the fortnight.

Cannes, May 25, 2026

Every May, Cannes is swept up in the festival’s singular energy, a beguiling aura of cinema, light, and glamour. Since its inception in 1946, the Cannes Film Festival has become one the world’s most watched cultural events, turning the Croisette into the global epicentre of film for a fortnight.

This year, the iconic red steps formed a backdrop for different ways of embodying masculine elegance. From the traditional tuxedo to the reimagined Forestière jacket, the outfits we saw in Cannes sketch out a wardrobe where classicism is tinged with individuality. One accessory cropped up time and again throughout the festival: Alessandro shoes. Available in patent leather or Demesure versions, they lent each look the remarkable elegance that is a hallmark of Berluti.

Michael Fassbender

Graphic simplicity for Laurent Lafitte

At the opening ceremony on 12 May, Laurent Lafitte looked sharp in a micro-patterned black wool and satin suit, teamed with a white cotton poplin shirt and black patent Alessandro lace-ups.rni noir.

Pared-back minimalism for Michael Fassbender

At the official competition screening of Hope on 17 May, Michael Fassbender wore a black wool double-breasted tuxedo with tone-on-tone stripes over a white cotton poplin shirt, with a black silk satin bow tie and black patent leather loafers.

High-contrast black and white for Kevin Trapp

Poise balanced with movement for Mory Sacko

Also in attendance at the opening gala, Mory Sacko took a more relaxed approach to formalwear, opting for a Forestière jacket with midnight blue mohair pants, a white shirt with French cuffs, a midnight blue silk satin bow tie, and black patent Alessandro shoes.

A classic revisited for Antoine Reinartz
