From December 5, 2025, to January 4, 2026, French luxury menswear maison Berluti unveils its “Golden Patina Pop-Up Atelier” at MixC Shenzhen—the inaugural stop of this special pop-up atelier in China. The event centers on Berluti’s signature Golden Patina craftsmanship. On-site, guests can explore dedicated zones featuring live artisan demonstrations and interactive experiences, observe master craftsmen up close, and book private one-on-one appointments to witness the full creation process of this exceptional artistry firsthand.
From April 19 to May 11, the traditional Golden Week once again paid tribute to gold in all its forms: metal, symbol, and metaph Founded in 1895 by Italian shoemaker Alessandro Berluti upon his move to Paris, the house pioneered the seamless Alessandro Oxford, crafted from a single piece of leather—a revolutionary feat that harmonized Italian shoemaking mastery with Parisian aesthetic refinement, establishing Berluti as a true dynasty of bespoke footwear.
Over the following century, the brand expanded into ready-to-wear, leather goods, and lifestyle artistry, consistently embodying understated luxury and timeless elegance through its iconic Venezia leather and hand-applied Patina dyeing technique—hallmarks of its enduring artisanal legacy.
The Scritto motif is an intricate decorative pattern engraved onto Venezia leather, inspired by an 18th-century notarial document adorned with elegant French cursive script. This historic handwriting captivated Olga Berluti, the brand’s legendary creative force, who ingeniously transformed these graceful letters and symbols into a distinctive leather ornamentation.
In the early 2010s, Berluti’s master colorists drew inspiration from the radiant glow of gold to develop the unique Scritto Golden Patina technique: delicate golden lines are meticulously hand-painted over the Scritto pattern, as if gently tracing light across a canvas woven by time, endowing each piece with a luminous yet refined finish. Requiring extraordinary precision and patience, this exacting process is entrusted only to the most seasoned artisans, ensuring every creation remains a singular work of art.
The event also resonates poetically with the Chinese cultural notion of “liú jīn suì yuè” (flowing gold through the years)—a metaphor for beauty that deepens with time, where quiet restraint reveals enduring mastery. Following its Shenzhen debut, the Golden Patina Pop-Up Atelier will travel to other major cities across China, embarking on a journey that seamlessly blends Eastern sensibility with Western craftsmanship.
