Donations That Help People into Work
La Cravate Solidaire is a French charity network that promotes equal opportunities by combating discrimination in job recruitment. Volunteers help jobseekers rebuild their confidence by offering guidance on navigating the workplace culture.
Berluti passes on a proportion of its unsold items to this charity (after removal of the logo), to support its operations and contribute to helping its clients back into employment. Other solidarity initiatives will be set up outside France in due course.
Tissons la Solidarité brings together 70 social enterprises in France that offer jobs and training to help people back into work. The organisation’s chief focus is collecting, sorting, transforming and selling secondhand clothes, and it currently has almost 1,900 people enrolled in its programmes, 83% of whom are women. This is the network Berluti has chosen to upcycle a proportion of its unsold products. Following a successful initial trial in 2021, the amount of unsold items and used store uniforms that are recycled or upcycled will rise to 50% by 2026.
