Dressing in bespoke clothing is to enjoy a unique experience. In our Paris atelier you’ll see master tailors at work and discover the magic of a process where time itself takes material form. Here, nothing exists beforehand – each garment springs from a blank page. There are no standard patterns, no compromises; all that matters is the client’s dialogue with a tailor who will craft him a piece to uniquely suit his tastes.
It all begins with a meeting in the Sèvres salon, or an appointment at one of the other Berluti stores around the world. The master tailor takes plenty of time to learn about his client’s tastes and habits, and about the event if it’s a special occasion. Armed with this knowledge, the tailor acts as guide and stylist, suggesting the most flattering cuts and most suitable fabrics to satisfy the client’s requirements.
There’s a wealth of possibilities, spanning hundreds of fabrics and exclusive linings to make up dozens of garment types, from three-piece suits or formal tuxedos through coats, jacket, waistcoats and shirts, right down to elasticated jogging pants.
The crafting of a bespoke garment means embracing the luxury of taking your time. The client returns to their tailor almost ritually over a period of four to six months. Measurements are taken, and the fitting toile is made up; then the pattern is cut out of the chosen fabric; finally, the last adjustments are made to perfect Berluti’s remarkable style.
Out of these sessions, a unique garment will be born – one that’s both elegant and flattering to the wearer’s physique. All Berluti’s bespoke tailoring is executed entirely by hand in its ateliers within France, using traditional couture techniques inherited from the illustrious tailors Arnys.
