Legacy shoemaker

Form and fit

Share

A legacy of the master bootmaker's skill, the science of form is the common denominator of all Berluti footwear.

“You cannot be elegant if you are not comfortable and well shod”

"You cannot be elegant if you are not comfortable and well shod," goes the House saying. Since the very first sketches made in 1895, each generation of Berluti has cultivated exceptional know-how in the mastery of form, expertise in leather making and a deep knowledge of the foot, with that maxim always in mind.

Respecting the foot and the personal gait of the client requires an in-depth knowledge of shoe fitting. This is why, at Berluti, we never ask your shoe size, since this is insufficient as an indicator. Instead, we examine the form of your foot from every aspect: distribution of body weight, asymmetry, the arch, measurement around the instep and much more.

The incomparable elegance and comfort of Berluti shoes are directly related to this bootmaking heritage.

When Talbinio, grandson of founder Alessandro Berluti, decided to launch a line of luxury ready-to-wear footwear, his aim was to give clients the opportunity to acquire certain models right away, but without ever compromising on quality. The techniques and expertise formerly reserved for bespoke footwear are now applied to the ready-to-wear collections, giving them that extra measure of soul which is the hallmark of Berluti shoes.

“That extra measure of soul is the hallmark of Berluti shoes”

Year after year, new models are added to the ready-to-wear family, which today offers a wide variety of forms adapted to each morphology. Different types of technique have been re-thought and perfected: hand-stitched Blake construction, Goodyear welting, rubber soles. Each collection is designed to offer the client the model best fitted to his foot. Because each foot is unique.
