Our Responsible Sourcing

Berluti is pursuing an ambitious plan to reduce its climate impact, backed by clear metrics and rigorous standards of craftsmanship. This approach turns carbon management into a powerful driver of sustainable excellence.

We see accelerating our transition to a fully climate‑aligned business as a way to demonstrate responsible leadership. Berluti is following SBTi principles to steer its carbon reduction strategy, supported by full-scope carbon reporting and quarterly Environment Committees with oversight of each parameter.

From materials selection to making our products, and from in-store energy use to staff travel, the goal is to optimize and gradually reinvent every piece of the jigsaw.

This approach is already bearing fruit, with 2024 showing a 16% decrease in absolute emissions and a 9% reduction in carbon intensity compared to 2023.

These tangible advances reflect a growing momentum and our determination to put the Maison’s operations on a more responsible footing, with an updated target of achieving a 52% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030 (vs. 2023).

Berluti has been cultivating relationships with a network of exceptional partners – mainly in Italy – for over 120 years. This common heritage is founded on a bedrock of shared values that are clearly articulated in the LVMH Group’s Supplier Code of Conduct, which sets the highest social, ethical, and environmental standards.

These commitments translate into concrete measures on the ground: each LVMH Group supplier is audited by an independent body to monitor working conditions, environmental impact, supply chain transparency and the quality of the working relationship. Ninety-two per cent of our partners have signed the Code to date, with 92% of Tier 1 suppliers and 86% of Tier 2 suppliers being audited at least every two years.

The Join Forces programme that LMVH launched in 2023 goes even further, bringing together initiatives from across the Group and mobilising all its partners around a responsible transition. September 2024 saw more than 30 Deret staff members (including the Executive Committee) undergo Climate Fresk training, following in the footsteps of 74 prior participants. These sessions were held during supplier forums at our workshops in Italy and our headquarters in France, and included participants from 26 of our key suppliers in the transport, leather and garment sectors.

The responsible supply chain that Berluti is developing combines innovation with green thinking. One illustration of this is the sailing cargo ship that transported several pallets with almost 500 pre-owned products on its first 19-day crossing between New York and Le Havre, paving the way for low-impact logistics.

In the same vein, the hauliers who manage transportation between Manifattura Berluti in Italy and our logistics centre in France adopted a low-carbon fleet in 2023, switching from diesel to HVO (a 100% plant-based biofuel) and biogas derived from the methanization of agricultural waste. This shift to low-carbon operations has significantly reduced CO₂ emissions and cut down on logistics-related fine particles.

In China, we’ve transitioned from air to rail transport wherever routes are available, as rail freight typically has a carbon footprint around 90% lower than air freight.

Berluti also began implementing the LVMH Group’s GREEN In Tech roadmap in 2024 to decarbonize our digital footprint, managing the life cycle of equipment, turning machinery off outside of working hours, and training staff in environmentally conscious behaviours.

Since 2025, pooling shipments between Berluti and other LVMH Maisons from our Gennevilliers site has streamlined deliveries to our Paris stores and reduced CO2 emissions, while also optimizing transport costs. Our logistics partner Deret systematically monitors fill rates to ensure that boxes are at least 80% full.

Another advance is our adoption of Living Packets, reusable packaging that’s traceable, secure, and has an adjustable insert that adapts to the goods being transported. This new solution offers a more responsible way of transporting our products.
