On the occasion of the Japanese Golden Week, Berluti opened the doors of its workshops to reveal one of its most striking gestures: the golden patina on Scritto leather.
From April 19 to May 11, the traditional Golden Week once again paid tribute to gold in all its forms: metal, symbol, and metaphor. Berluti honored this tradition in its heartland: Japan. Across its seventeen boutiques, as well as the online store, the Golden Patina captivated enthusiasts of the Maison.
Born from the hands of master colorists, this golden patina is much more than a shade. It is a light, captured, tamed, then infused into Venezia leather, a noble and supple material designed to embrace all the nuances of art. Heirs to a savoir-faire born in Paris at the late 19th century, Berluti artisans transform each piece into a singular expression of refinement.
It is therefore no coincidence that Berluti, a Maison where patina is an art in itself, celebrates this ancestral link between gold and leather. Conceived in Japan in the early 2010s by masters Shozo and Ryuji, the Golden Patina perpetuates this tradition with grace and precision. Under their brushes, each letter of the Scritto becomes an illumination, each curve a poetic glow. The gesture recalls that of the illuminators of yesteryear, whose hands brought forth light from precious metal.
Golden Patina is not only an ornament. It is a trace of time and splendor, an echo of civilizations, and a silent promise that beauty, when born from the hands of the artisan, can truly shine forever.
