Frozen Latitudes
Berluti’s most exceptional leather pieces glisten under a deep blue sky in the volcanic confines of Iceland’s Kerlingafjöll highlands.

For his Fall/Winter 2018 Collection for Berluti, Haider Ackermann envisions leather outerwear becoming lighter and purer than ever. The designer takes inspiration from the brand’s iconic seamless “Alessandro” shoe to create outstanding, traceable pieces with invisible seams and a patina that progressively reveals its energy and imprints a unique character on each of the clothes. A lamb leather coat in whisky tones is bonded with grey wool and cashmere, and an oversized shearling coat - worn over a deep blue suede tailored suit - has a buttery texture soft to the touch. Natural shearling also lines a double-breasted camel hair coat while a baby alpaca herringbone piece is surprisingly lined in black calfskin. Among Berluti’s most celebrated pieces, blousons become more daring than ever in a fluid, soft, powder blue lambskin, although a biker with a quilted flannel lining and a shearling-lined zip-up jacket with kimono sleeves bring a classic mood to the collection. Among key accessories, a state-of-the-art pocketed tote bag and a pair of tobacco kangaroo leather Chelsea boots bring Berluti’s artisanal know-how to new, higher grounds.
