Open Hand

The straight-lined architecture of Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex was Le Corbusier’s chosen place to install a large, organic-shaped hand sculpture that summarized his entire philosophy, as well as that of a newly independent India. Shining against the Himalayas and measuring 28 meters, the Open Hand Monument is the emblem of Chandigarh, and was designed to convey peace, reconciliation and the unity of mankind. It is mounted on a ball bearing and turns with the wind, expressing the constant changes in life as well as the ability to give and receive. Under it, Berluti’s patinated leather pieces gleam, reflecting Chandigarh’s light.

A calf leather flight jacket takes on a hand-made treatment to give it a vintage look, complete with a logo patch on the chest. It is the perfect piece to combine with the season’s shoes: The “Alessandro” - Berluti’s most emblematic lace up shoe, originally created in 1895 - is reinterpreted by Kris Van Assche, with a thicker sole and wider laces, anchoring it into modernity while celebrating the history of the Maison. The “College” loafers, an Ivy League-inspired model, get a daring colour-edged twist.

Venezia is the go-to leather for classic bags, including the “Jour”, a practical medium-sized everyday clutch with a flat back pocket and a meticulous interior design. And the new “Prisme” Briefcase, made from two large pieces of leather. The “Complice” cross-body bag and the “Volume MM”, a light, functional backpack, both in matte Vitello leather, take on a subdued yet recognizable Scritto swap detail, while the Berluti logo features prominently in a different “Complice” model, steeped in an “Ice Brown” patina.

The “Eclipse” Weekender, in Vitello Fiorissimo, is suppler than ever and trimmed with a B-shaped keyring and a bag tag with an “Ice Brown” patina.

The finishing touch? A Signature Venezia Plain belt, customizable by choosing among two buckles - like a metallic B - and four straps.
